Caroline Gurney

Caroline Gurney’s practice encompasses all areas of employment law. She has represented individuals in discrimination, harassment, and hostile work environment claims before federal and state administrative agencies and in federal and state court. In addition, she has represented large and small companies in various types of employment claims and contract matters, and she has operated in a general counsel role for a number of businesses across the region. Caroline’s transactional practice includes drafting and negotiating business and employment contracts.

Prior to joining Colantuono Guinn Keppler, defended a variety of claims in a well-respected defense firm and also represented plaintiffs in personal injury cases. She has successfully represented clients in cases involving insurance coverage disputes, motor vehicle crashes, and premises liability claims. Caroline has served as first chair counsel in jury trials and bench trials in both Kansas and Missouri, and she has argued cases in front of the Kansas Court of Appeals. 

Caroline frequently presents continuing legal education seminars, with recent presentations before the Johnson County Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association, and the National Business Institute. Caroline currently serves as Vice President of the Johnson County Bar Foundation Board, and she is a longtime member of the Earl E. O’Connor Inn of Court. She enjoys taking part in activities with the Johnson County Bar Association, especially as a volunteer for Clean Up Days to support Johnson County Developmental Services.

Caroline is the recipient of the Super Lawyers Rising Star Designation for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. She is licensed in Kansas, Missouri, and the United States District Courts of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri. Caroline graduated from Knox College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After graduating college, Caroline completed a year of service with AmeriCorps, a national service program designed to address community needs. Caroline graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law with a J.D. in 2015.
